Many of us have come across the terms, life purpose, or phrases around living more purposefully or more meaningfully. Usually, it might take being overwhelmed, over-exhaustion, or a deep sense of unhappiness for us to self-reflect and explore the deeper meaning of life, have greater self awareness, or at least what are the small joys that can help us cope until we find a better solution of sorts.
It might be turning towards our favorite comfort foods, retail therapy, or a short weekend getaway, but come Monday morning, it’s still hard to get out of bed. And this cycle continues until even the small joys don’t work on us anymore.
And at some point in our lives, we might feel lost with who we are. Perhaps we always thought our job title is what makes our identity and we’re wondering if it should be the other way around? We begin to wonder what is the meaning of life, what is life’s purpose?
We want to know what we can do to make life better, more worthy of waking up for each day, and what we have to look forward to. We wish to find happiness and fulfillment.
But where do we start?
We might rummage through books, listen to podcasts or watch videos of inspirational speakers. We might turn to therapy to understand more about ourselves and our situation, yoga, and meditation as ways to get more in touch with ourselves, and energy healing such as Reiki for some additional support to release energy blocks in our life that we didn’t even know we’ve had inside us for years, or to heal our emotional wounds with emotional healing.
One extra helpful tool that I’d love to recommend is a Numerology Reading as it can tell us a whole lot about you and your life mission, which is also known as a Life Path Number in Numerology.
What is your Life Purpose?
To put it simply, the purpose is our mission in this life. It’s what we are meant to learn, achieve and fulfill during this lifetime. If you are open to the idea of reincarnation, you may understand that we are here in this lifetime as a human to fulfill a certain mission.
It’s a mission that our soul agreed to take before being born into this lifetime in hopes of being fulfilled by the end of it.
However, our slates are wiped clean once we agree to enter the next lifetime and it’s part of our mission to remember what that life meaning is and how to fulfill it.
First Off, What Is Numerology?
Numerology is a practical tool to learn more about the energy behind numbers. It’s often applied towards dates, i.e. a person’s birth date, a significant date, or noticeable repetitive number patterns such as 1111.
By focusing on a date, for example, a person’s birth date, we’re able to learn or better understand the energy flow of the person. Numerology can help us understand how a person experiences the world and his or her relationship with other people.
It can help us see significant challenges in life (aka karma) for a person and suggests how we can work healthfully through it so we can pass those particular challenges.
By creating a simple chart based on your that, let’s say, we’re able to create a blueprint of numbers that reflect the energy makeup of who you are and how that can help you learn so much more about yourself. It can help us also see our own strengths and weaknesses and how the latter can keep us stuck in the same place or mindset for too long, getting caught in the same cycle, hurting us from our growth potential.

Our Life Path Number gives us insight into what our purpose is and things we can do to get closer to it. It may not necessarily unveil your exact purpose. I’ve been told by my mentors that we don’t usually fully understand what our purpose is until we’re older, around the age of 72.
But don’t let that discourage you though as there are many micro-ways to tap into our purpose through Numerology.
How To Calculate Your Life Path Number:
For any number above 11, we reduce any number above 11 into a single-digit number by adding what double-digit number one-by-one. To calculate your life path, let’s use the full birth date of January 8, 1978 as an practice.

Step 1: Take the month of your birth in the numerical value (i.e. January is a 1)

Step 2: Take the day of your birth in numerical value (i.e 8th of January is an 8)

Step 3: Take the year of your birth in numerical value and add each digit one-by-one (i.e. 1978 would be 1+9+7+8)

Step 4: Add every digit in the one-by-one. For January 8, 1978 it would look like:

1+8+1+9+7+8= 34
-
Step 5: Reduce the grand total by splitting each number up individually until it’s under the final number 11 and that’s the Life Path Number.
So in the same example using January 8, 1978 the math would look like: 1+8+1+9+7+8 = 34 then we break 34 into individual numbers and it would be 3 + 4 = 7
The Life Path Number for someone born on January 8, 1978 would be 7.
For day-of births that land on a double-digit number, we still add each number individually.
For this instance, January 28, 1978 would be 1+2+8+1+9+7+8= 36 and we would reduce until it’s under 11 so we would add 3+6 = 9.
For someone born on January 28, 1978, their Life Path Number is a 9.
What Does Your Life Path Number Mean?
Your Life Path Number points you in the direction of your Life Purpose, the mission you have to complete in this lifetime. It’s the same mission you agreed to as a soul with the Universe before you became human in this lifetime.
Perhaps your mission in this lifetime is to learn how to achieve happiness. And in that case, a number “3” might should up in the Life Path Number which reflects positive-thinking, happiness with a happy-go-lucky attitude and
What Does Your Life Path Number Not Mean?
Your Life Path Number is your mission in this lifetime and there’s usually a distinction between that and our career. A lot of people confuse our purpose with our career.
Our jobs or career is oftentimes not our purpose. Our job and careers pay the bills and provide for our basic needs in order to fulfill our purpose along the way.
Is your Life Path Number the same as your Birth Number?
Your birth number is a bit easier to remember. Rather than computing your whole birthday, your birth number is calculated by adding the month and day.
While this is a little more hazy, it still offers you a good idea of who you are. To get such an understanding, you may use the same meanings that were allocated to your life path number.
While your life path number is comparable to your sun sign when calculated using your precise time of birth, your birth number is more similar to your sun sign when computed using just the month and day of your birth. Knowing you’re a Leo teaches you a lot about yourself, doesn’t it?

What Is Needed For A Numerology For Your Life Path Number?
We just need your birth date (month, day, year) and that’s it! Sometimes people who know their birth time like to volunteer the information too to see if another number shows up but we generally don’t need to look at it when use Numerology.
